Modelling Complex Events with Event-Driven Process Chains
نویسنده
چکیده
The emerging technology complex event processing can be utilized to integrate complex events into business processes and to flexibly adjust processes on changing business requirements. Due to the complexity of events to be modelled, a high interaction level between users and developers is required. The lack of appropriate approaches for modelling complex events with the common conceptual modelling languages hampers this interaction. Here an approach for modelling complex events in business processes using event diagrams and eventdriven process chains is proposed.

Event-driven and Attribute-driven Robustness
Over five decades have passed since the first wave of robust optimization studies conducted by Soyster and Falk. It is outstanding that real-life applications of robust optimization are still swept aside; there is much more potential for investigating the exact nature of uncertainties to obtain intelligent robust models. For this purpose, in this study, we investigate a more refined description...
متن کاملNautilus Event-driven Process Chains: Syntax, Semantics, and their Mapping to BPEL
Nautilus Event-driven Process Chains (N-EPCs) are a variant of Eventdriven process chains allowing multiple events between functions. This allows events to be used as transition conditions in a mapping to the Business Process Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL). We will give a formal definition of N-EPCs and show how they can be mapped to BPEL. A close look will be taken how connectors c...
متن کاملYet Another Event-driven Process Chain - Modelling Workflow Patterns with yEPCs
The 20 workflow patterns proposed by van der Aalst et al. provide a comprehensive benchmark for comparing process modelling languages. In this article, we discuss workflow pattern support of Event-Driven Process Chains (EPCs). Building on this analysis, we propose three extensions to EPCs in order to provide for workflow pattern support. These are the introduction of the so-called empty connect...
متن کاملProcess Orientation and Object-Orientation — An Approach for Integrating UML and Event-Driven Process Chains (EPC)
Event-driven process chains (EPC) are used by many companies for modelling, analysing and redesigning business processes. The resulting EPC models are used as a starting point for the development of information systems and for the definition of workflows. They can be applied for simulation and activity based costing. A major area of application is the implementation of standard software package...
متن کاملAligning Business Processes and Software Connecting the UML 2 Profile for Event Driven Process Chains with Use Cases and Components
The alignment between business processes and software is inadequately supported in conceptual modelling, although business processes are often the starting point for software development and define requirements for software systems. To address this gap, we connect the UML 2 profile for Event Driven Process Chains (EPCs) [2] with UML 2 elements representing software requirements and components. ...
